Mute video

Remove the audio track completely.

Drop the video to mute

MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV. Up to 10 minutes, 2 GB.

Talking in the background, wind, music you do not have the rights to - sometimes the picture is fine and the sound is not. This does not turn the volume down, it removes the track: the output has no audio track at all.

That has a practical benefit too: the file is a little smaller, and platforms will not flag it as "silent video", because there is genuinely no silent track to flag.

To put music over it, open the muted file in the editor and add an audio file on its own track.

Your video is never uploaded. The work happens inside the browser, on your own device, and the page keeps working offline once it has loaded. So there is no upload to wait for, no queue, and no file sitting on somebody else’s server afterwards.

Files up to 10 minutes and 2 GB. That is not a plan limit - it is what an ordinary laptop or phone handles comfortably. Trim a longer video first.

Common questions

Can the sound be recovered?
Not from the output - the track is not there. Your source file is untouched.
Can I mute only part of it?
Not here. Split the clip in the editor and lower the volume on that piece.
Does the picture change?
It is re-encoded; the default settings leave no visible difference.
Will the file be smaller?
A little. Audio is usually a small share of the total.
