Getting started
- Do I need an account?
- No. The editor and all 12 tools work without one. You only need an account to move to Pro or Studio.
- Which browsers does it work in?
- Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox. Video processing needs the browser’s WebCodecs support, which is widest in Chrome and Edge. If your browser lacks something, Kesit says what it is and offers another way where there is one.
- Does it work on a phone?
- It opens and works; on a phone, export goes up to 1080p. A long edit with many pieces is more comfortable on a tablet or a computer.
- Which files can I open?
- Video: MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV (H.264, VP9, AV1; HEVC if your browser supports it). Audio: MP3, WAV, AAC, OGG, FLAC. Images: JPG, PNG, WebP. Older formats such as AVI, WMV and FLV do not open; save the video as MP4 first.
Privacy and your files
- Is my video uploaded to a server?
- No. The file is opened, decoded and re-encoded inside your browser. Kesit’s server does not take video; it has no way to. The server only holds membership: who you are and which plan you are on.
- Where are my projects kept?
- In this browser’s own storage, on your device. Open Kesit in the same browser and you carry on where you left off. To move a project to another computer, download it as a .kesit file from the Project menu and open it there.
- What happens if I clear my browser data?
- Your Kesit projects go too, because they are nowhere else. Download anything important as a .kesit file and keep it.
- Do automatic captions send my audio anywhere?
- No. The model that turns speech into text comes from Hugging Face and the ONNX Runtime that runs it from jsDelivr, downloaded once the first time you use it and kept in your browser. After that, audio becomes text without leaving your device.
Limits
- Why 10 minutes at most?
- Because the work happens on your device. Short videos process reliably on an ordinary laptop or phone; long ones fill the memory of weaker devices and an export can fail halfway. Processing your video on a server would remove the limit, but you would have to upload your file to us.
- Why 3 minutes on the free plan?
- Nearly every Reel, TikTok and Short is under 3 minutes, and the free plan covers all of them. Longer projects export up to 10 minutes on Pro. The file you import can be up to 10 minutes on any plan; the limit is on the length of the project you export.
- Why will my iPhone video not open?
- iPhone videos are usually HEVC, and some browsers cannot decode HEVC. Try Chrome, Edge or Safari. If that does not help, choose “Most Compatible” under Settings > Camera > Formats on the phone; new recordings will be H.264.
- Why is export slow?
- Speed depends on how well your device encodes video. On a computer with hardware acceleration a short video takes seconds; without it, it can take minutes. A lower resolution or frame rate makes it faster.
Export
- Can I switch tabs while it exports?
- Yes. Export runs in a separate thread, so it carries on with the tab in the background, and the tab title shows the percentage. Closing the page stops it; the project is not harmed, and you start it again.
- Is there a watermark?
- Not on any plan, the free one included.
- Why can I not choose 4K?
- 4K export is not available yet; it is coming soon. Free, Pro and Studio currently export up to 1080p.
Billing
- Are there credits or a minute counter?
- No. A feature is either in a plan or it is not.
- How do I cancel?
- Press “Cancel subscription” on your account page and confirm: two clicks. Your plan stays on until the end of the period you paid for, then you are back on the free plan. Your projects are not touched.
- Can I get a refund?
- Within 14 days of your first payment, with no questions. The “Request a refund” button on your account page shows for that whole time.
- Can I pay in Turkish lira?
- For now prices are in dollars and payments are taken by Polar; if your card is in lira, your bank does the conversion. Taxes are worked out on the checkout page.
