How to add captions to a video in the browser
Most short videos are watched with the sound off. Captions are how the message gets through anyway. Two ways in, both without uploading the audio.
Steps
Open the Captions panel
With your video on the timeline, open "Captions" in the left panel list.
Either: let it listen
On Pro, "Auto captions" turns the speech into text on your device. The speech model downloads once, then runs offline; the audio never leaves your computer. Pick Turkish, English or automatic for the language.
Or: open a caption file
On any plan, "Open a caption file" reads an SRT or VTT file and lines the captions up with the video.
Fix the lines and pick a style
Every line can be edited where it is: correct a name or a misheard word. Pick one of the caption styles; the preview shows exactly what the export will.
Export
Captions are burned into the picture on export, so they show on every platform. You can also download them as SRT or VTT to upload separately.
Tips
- Short lines read faster on a phone: two lines of a few words each beat one long line.
- Keep captions out of the bottom strip where platforms put their own buttons; the safe-area guide shows where that is.
